Vacation time is exciting. If it’s your first time boarding your dog while you’re away, you might not be entirely familiar with the process. No worries. Getting your dog ready for their stay doesn’t have to be complicated or stressful. Here are five things every pet owner should know before boarding their dog:
- Prioritize Safety and Cleanliness
Before boarding, make it a point to visit prospective pet resorts to ensure they maintain high standards. A clean, safe environment makes all the difference to your dog’s well-being. Waggles Pet Resort not only goes to great lengths to deliver fresh, clean amenities, but our facility is also fully temperature-controlled and sanitized using sophisticated cleaning systems. We also encourage new customers to schedule a tour of our facility to give pet owners additional peace of mind.
- Review Health and Vaccination Requirements
Almost all boarding facilities require guests to be vaccinated. If you’re planning a vacation, make certain your pet’s vaccinations are up to date in advance and avoid last-minute hassles. At Waggles, we require proof of vaccinations against rabies, distemper, and Bordetella to protect all pets from contagious diseases.
- Know What to Bring
Many pet owners plan to pack their dog’s favorite items to help them feel more at home. It’s a nice gesture, but one that can often create inadvertent snags. Our comfy canine suites are furnished with raised beds and tempered glass doors. Guests may bring bedding and blankets from home if desired. Toys, chews, and bones are not permitted, however, as they could be choking hazards. Kitchen items like bowls and utensils are also not accepted. Questions? Reach out to our team to find out just what to pack for your pup.
- Discuss Medical Requirements in Advance
Be sure to inform resort staff about any medical needs your dog may have. If your pet is on prescription medications, send the original bottles with names and dosages clearly visible. At Waggles, there is no charge to administer one medication, but a small fee accompanies each additional administration. It is important to note that Waggles does not accept guests with anything more than a minor medical condition. If we feel another facility may better suit your pet, we will do our best to provide local recommendations.
- Ask About the Routine
Find out just what kind of fun the resort has in store for your pet. Feel free to ask about daily activities provided by the facility, as well as breaks, rest, and mealtimes. At Waggles, our animal enthusiasts deliver a structured routine that includes plenty of play, rest, and individual attention to keep your dog happy and engaged.
By keeping these tips in mind, you can count on a positive and stress-free boarding experience. Waggles Pet Resort is looking forward to meeting your dog and exceeding your expectations with our commitment to safety, care, and the personal touch every pet deserves.
